Yea, braxton hicks feel as though your whole uterus just turns to a rock and gets really tight.
They make it hard to breathe sometimes and it puts a lot of pressure on just your whole body..
Is that what you're feeling?
If so, then yes.. you're feeling braxton hicks.

Real contractions will feel like really bad menstrual cramps, there's a noticeable difference between braxton hicks and real ones.

So yea, odds are you're feeling braxton hicks.
It's ok to feel them at 25 weeks, but if they get severe and you have more than 3 in an hour you should call your doc immediately or (considering it's a Sunday) call the Labor and Delivery nurses at the hospital.

But I think you're fine, and yea, braxton hicks are a b*tch!

You can call the doctor on sunday, they have to have an on call number for the nurse or the OB. Women go into labor every day of the week, even sunday. Its part of their practice. If your doctor does not have an on call number, or a number you can call instead, you shouldnt be seeing him.

If its a tightening then yes, it would be braxton hicks. You need to lay down for an hour or so, drink a cool glass of water, and do nothing.

Braxton hicks are not labor, theyre just those muscles working to get ready for it. One contraction can last for a looong time. I had some that lasted for nearly 15 minutes. Others were shorter, maybe a few seconds.

Labor contractions are painful, theyre more than just a tightening. They start near your sides, back or under your belly, and work their way across your belly. You cannot walk through them, or really talk through them. And they hurt enough to make you want to stop and breathe through it.

If you are concerned, fevery, the baby isnt moving, oryou're having a lot of contractions with bloody discharge go to the ER.

It sounds to me like you are having braxton hicks. Try doing some of these things.

• Change your activity or position. Sometimes walking provides relief, and other times resting eases your contractions. (Real labor contractions, on the other hand, will persist and progress regardless of what you do.)

• Take a warm bath to help your body relax.

• Try drinking a couple glasses of water, since these contractions can sometimes be brought on by dehydration.

• Try relaxation exercises or slow, deep breathing. This won't stop the Braxton Hicks contractions, but it may help you cope with the discomfort. (Use this opportunity to practice some of the pain-management strategies you learned in your childbirth preparation class.)

When to call your health care provider?

Please consult your doctor to find their protocol on when to call about Braxton Hicks contractions. Some general guidelines are if you are having more than 4 an hour, if they are painful, or accompanied by a watery or pinkish discharge. Preterm labor is a serious concern so if you are worried it is always safest to call your doctor.

you know i am due on the 31st (two days) starting about 2 to 3 months ago i started to get braxton hicks. if i were you what i did was i kept a note book by me and every time i had a pain i would write down when the pain started and when it stopped. if it got too regular than i was going to go to the hospital but it never did.

Sounds like BH contractions. They are probably lasting between 15 seconds and 2 minutes? Are irregular in when they come (not coming every 5 minutes for the last hour, right?). These are just practice contractions. Try to breathe through them practicing your labor breathing. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth and try to stay relaxed while they are happening. It's only the beginning.
