Let's make this simple. I would assume you want....

Battery Life -- B

Performance -- B

As it stands, majority of the other features are relatively the same. But these are the reasons you should be choosing this laptop.

"A" will most likely negate the use of your laptop for video games although that's most likely NOT the reason you are utilizing it. "B" will afford you games and the use of the Vista Aero GUI in place of the lackluster XP environment. It's really no big deal either way...but using the XP GUI over the AERO user interface would probably kick power usage down a bit too.

Check my source...it may be a bit too in depth for your tastes....but it gives a good run down/review of the two processors in question.

My opinion..."B" is the way to go.

1. Go with A even though B is excellent too. Both companies are excellent and make top of the line processors. The Intel Core 2 Duo came out not long ago based on their exceptional Core Duo line of products. You will get opinions that either one is the best choice.

2. Go with B.

3. Anything in the next larger size screen close to your budget?

4. Network card, go with the Gigabit Ethernet. It really doesn't matter much unless your notebook will be used on a fast network. Otherwise, your internet connection speed will probably be the limiting factor.

5. Good.

6. Go with B, the Sata drive. It's faster and uses less power.

7. 9 cell.

8. Unless you will do lots of presentations and you will be twisting your screen around a lot for whatever reasons, just a good webcam is fine. The less stress on the screen hinges the better.

Not sure you need a fingerprint scanner. Depends on the make I suppose. If someone is going to steal your notebook they will steal it anyway.

Better to have encrypted files and a backup of your information then a fingerprint scanner. Later, you can buy an external hard drive and case, quite affordable these days, and use it to backup your data, even make an exact clone of your hard drive.

id go for b, it has better processor and graphics card, which are the main things you should worry about. honestly, are you ever going to use 160 or even 120 GB?? because i doubt it. A has more features but they probably just make the laptop slower. so definetly B!!

Okay, I will do each one individually.

1) b, the Intel is faster, better technology makes it faster.
2) b, a discrete video card is much better than integrated
3) equal
4) pretty much equal, second has a modem, no big deal
5)equal
6) a, pretty obvious
7) b, more cells means more power
8) a, it has more features
9) b, duh

Overall I would go with laptop b, better processor and video card are far more important than the other minor advantages the laptop a has.

It all depends on what you want it for, Just for fun and games, or for work, or for graphics and etc. and if you want one that burns dvds, cds, and plays it as well, and i think the more GB, the better...for my opinion. But it also depends what brand you want, for me Hp is the best, i like sony, but i heard it breaks too easily. But B is the better choice, because the intel is way better, and the price is alittle cheaper.

B by a longshot; it has a good balance of price and performance (good processor and onboard video). The first laptop I believe is the HP TX1000, which I own and love, but darn is it slow.

You need to explain what you're looking for and what you plan on doing with it. Are you a student? Professional? What will you need on a computer? What are you into. It all depends. You can have a computer with everthying ever made on it but dont need it.
