caretakers , are entitled to 5 weeks holidays a year same as most people, so we use this time to maintain the school up to top standard, painting ,varnishing , a general overall of the site , so that the new Septembers students can see how good there new surroundings are.

after the first term its usually just as bad as it was at the end of the summer term. and so on and so on. some caretakers live on site, and some dont.

Just because the children are away doesn't mean that the building stops needing to be maintained. Caretakers check on it and carry out essential maintenance. Also it's a time when things like floor varnishing and other jobs can be done when it would not be possible with pupils present.

Yes they do, as do admin and office staff and technicians, gardeners and the like.

Some staff are considered 'term-time' only - certain technicians and the catering staff. But the majority of work is done during the holidays (painting and decorating and resources preparation) because the pupils and staff are not there to cause obstructions or trip over workmens' tools and materials.

Non-teaching staff are employed on a full-time basis with x-amount of weeks leave.

Teachings staff are employed on a different contract of hours per year. The hours they work coincide with the term time schedules.
