Hey, twin sister LOL! One of the things I think is so great about Q & A is that it makes it possible... in a way that could never have happened before.... for people who thought they were alone to connect with the world and find out they aren't. You very very possibly are suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder. A lot of people still think that this is something associated with young kids only. It isn't. I am a lot older than you and back when I was your age it wasn't even a generally recognised condition. I started "getting weird" around 17/18 I couldn't concentrate. couldn't focus. I would start doing something and my mind would get distracted and I never seemed able to finish what I started. And everything I did manage to stay with took forever to get finished. I was slow to the point of ridiculous. I knew that I had something going on that other people obviously didn't have, but I didn't have a name for it, and I suffered miserably.
Finally I confided in a doctor who was a close family friend, and he put me on a medication that he said he'd had some good results with in patients with similar problems. Overnight, I was a different person. I still to this day take a small dose of the same medication Probably because my system is so used to it now, it is less effective than it was in the beginning, and the problem tries to take over again sometimes. But a huge part of the solution is just in KNOWING what's going on, and understanding that I have a control mechanism.
I am still a bit of a forgetful goofball, and make notes for myself... and my husband has me tell him where I put things. Another manifestation of this "thing"is that I am a slob. I have to fight to be orderly around the house where other women don't. Anyway, I got older, got married to a guy who is supremely understanding, and with his help, in different ways, we stay on top of this thing.
I don't think there there is really any "cure" for it. It's just the hand of cards we were dealt, and let me tell ya, with all those terrible diseases and conditions out there that so many people suffer from, you and I can afford to consider ourselves lucky. But I used to blame myself, telling myself I was just somebody with a real "lazy bone" in my body. But lucky for you, most doctors today recognise this as an absolutely genuine, legitimate medical problem, and if you see a doctor and explain everything as you did here, I believe you will get a sympathetic ear, and a professional solution. Trust me, you are NOT alone, you aren't a "fathead" or a moron, and there IS a longterm solution. Go get it, tiger.

1. Stop writing things down on scrap pieces of paper. Get a very small notebook that fits in your pocket to write notes on. 2. I know there is one natural remedy for improving memory, but I can't remember it, because I haven't used it. :) Ginko Biloba maybe 3. Forget the idea of MULTITASKING...the best suggestion is to stay focused on what you are working on..and get that done, and then move on...Touch one thing only once!! That is a very critical. Anyone who is organized will tell you that is very important: Lets say you have 4 client files to work on..do you think is is a good idea to have them all on your desk, spending 1/2 and hour with 1, then moving to the second, then 3rd, then 4th and then coming back and spending 1/2 hour with the first again..and so forth. By the end of the day, you will have nothing finished!!!! Do 1 client file, concentrate all your efforts on that, then move on..the touch a piece of paper of file once is critical to be organized. 4. Make sure to LOOK organized. Even if you know where everything is on your desk, anyone else looking at it will assume you have no idea what you are doing..trust me on that. 5. Make a checklist and keep it by your front door. Before you leave, you read your list, and then can go back and double check to make sure your stove is off.

Don't substitute pills for skills. There should be a place in your area that offers a Time Management course ... which would teach you how to get things done in a timely manner and soooo much more. An electronic daily planner is an excellent way of keeping on top of your daily duties.
Also, have you always been this way? If not, a check-up with your doctor is something you should consider. Wishin' you well ... :)

Please, get a date book with alot of space under each day. Like you at your age I was so bad as you describe, I went out and bought a huge wall calendar and hung it over my bed so when I got up I was faced with the days events. It does get better, I became clearer mid twenties. But fussy is ok if you get a handle on it-----realizing the seriousness of basics is first step. Get a plaques and write displine, self control on them.Danger: no dope either!

I think you should go to the Dr and rule out any medical problems you may or may not have. Ginkgo Biloba is supposed to help improve memory but I still think you should see a Dr first.

I forgot what your question was. (just a little humor, sorry)
It's hard to get organized sometimes. If your memory is the problem, maybe you need to dicuss it with a doctor. It would be ADD or ADHD. I've seen people turn their life around after going on Adderall.

There are a lot of medical disorders that can cause these symptoms. Metabolic disorders, sleep disorders or deprivation, and psychological stress and conditions may also be contributory. A health check up is mandatory!

There is a natural herbal remedy out there called "Focus Factor"
It can be found on many websites.
Some people I know who have tried it says that it works wonders, others say its a waste of money. See for yourself.

...might be a vitamin / mineral deficiency...I would see a doctor and have your blood tested and brain scan etc...it may be a very simple thing that is seated medically that can be fixed with medication or diet or both...See your Doctor, though...
