My boyfriend and I are both virgins and have been with each other for a long time. We've been planning our special day for a long time as well, and it's now here. I am considering combining the male condom with the sponge for birth control- do you think this is a good idea/will it be effective? I expect my period in about a week and a half (10 days or so?) and plan to be 'active' on Wednesday, so a week before my period. Am I likely to be fertile at this time? My periods are regular, on a 30ish day cycle.

Also, what is your favourite condom brand/style? Are the thinner ones 'less safe'? What do you recommend? What are sponges like? Can you feel them? Are they difficult to put in place? Thanks!

Great idea for both of you. The sponge is easy to insert if you've used tampons before and if you are comfortable touching your own body. Getting it out is a bit trickier so make sure you insert it with the removal cord facing away from the cervix.
Personally I have always liked Trojan condoms and have never had one break.
Enjoy!

personally I have never used a sponge before so I cant say anything about that, but ive heard they are usually pretty good at keeping you safe, for the condom trojan would deffently be your best bet because ive never had one of them break, the one time one broke it wasnt a trojan so you are deffently going to be pretty safe

wow, you're going all out and being pretty damn safe. i like durex enhanced pleasure because they have more lubrication.
a condom is good enough and if you are lubricated then it won't really break
