Historically, the Labour Party is the creation of the Labour Unions and the Methodist church here in England.
This movement began to come into it's own in about the 1850s and 1860s and was supported by the Chartists, among whom were such as Carl Marx and Engles.
By the 1870s the Labour Movement [Chartists] had secured the vote for the working man for the first time.
The first two Labour MPs were elected to Parliament in c1900, both were from India [Empire Days etc].
Old Labour or Real Labour values are based upon state ownership of major enterprises such as, water, mining, oil, railways, shipping, road transport etc.
Until Margaret Thatcher was elected back in c1979, the major industries of UK were State Owned. There was British Rail, British Road Transport, British Overseas Airways Corporation, British European Airways, and a lot more besides.
The profits from these and other enterprises helped pay for such as the National Health etc.
The difference between Old and New Labour, is that Old Labour believe in the strength of the Unions, who created the Labour party in the first place. They also believe in state ownership of major industries.
New Labour does not believe in either the Unions nor the concept of state ownership of major industries.
The back benches on the Labour side in the Commons is packed full of Old Labour MPs and the leadership of the party know it. Gordon Brown comes from an Old Labour background. How far will he go to help recreate a Socialist Britain?
In effect, the Labour Party has been hijacked by a bunch of Liberal Tories, lead by the former PM Tory Bliar!

I have an idea that some old labour law should be instated. In broad sense they should improve selection of work for employees and not the employer selection of workers. You should be able to quit your job and collect unemployment. A bigger problem is how long will it be before you have share your job. Canada my profile scared to look at the 3 questions. United State answers sometimes. Like to react differently.

Neo Labour, as I call it - is a idea dreamed up in focus groups by christian women, who know nothing about politics.,
I don't care if labour never got elected, BUT they definately would have been (in whatever form) in 1997.
The labour party was hijacked.

Old labour, rightly or wrongly, are genuine socialists with an element of principle.eg,Dennis Healey.
New Labour,no policies,principles.Lies,
duplicity,
sycophancy,self serving.
Hiding under the noble sounding face of socialist values.
Yes,old labour is unelectable.Unfortunately,Blair was voted in by a shallow nation, taken in by his trendy ,young family image and not on policy.I can only hope, that the nation is wiser.
personal: all socialism is bad.
