I am a guy with a male roommate, hence we don't clean much. I want to really clean the bathroom well today so I want to know if it is okay for the floor if I use diluted bleach to clean it. The floor is a grout and tile floor so I would think it would be okay, but I just wondered if anyone had advice otherwise. Alternative ideas would be nice but I want to be thorough and be able to clean any mold, or other things that may be on the floor. Thanks

Thanks to everyone who provided answers! Also there is no need to tell me not to mix ammonia and bleach, I am a chemist.

Well bleach would take care of the mold. Make sure you dilute it and use hot water. Also make sure you have ventilation in the area. If you are cleaning on your hands and knees, you can try sprinkling baking soda on the floor and wiping with a sponge and hot water if these are sealed tiles. You can also put baking soda and a little bit of vinegar in your drains and let set overnight to make them smell better.

How To Clean Bathroom Floor

Yes you can. However if you have a dark colored grout, the answer is NO. The dye in the grout will be bleached. Even though the grout would have been sealed after installation the seal wears away. Use straight white vinegar on dark grout. then seal it after cleaning. As everyone else has said no ammonia with bleach. I see a couple of patients a year that make that mistake.

Well make sure to sweep before you do this so you don't get some gooey mess. Diluted bleach will work great and make sure if you have animals that they are no where near as the smell can cause some discomfort. Oh by the way it is nice to know at least one guy in the world cares about cleaning a floor.

Sweep, damp mop, then use a mixture of hot water and bleach. This will get it clean and kill the bacteria on the floor.

If the grout is stained or dirty you can apply some solution and let it set.

Be sure to rinse the floor well with fresh water.

you may use water with a 1/4 cup (maximum) bleach on your floor. beware anything material will be bleached as well, your pants, cloths, rugs, towels etc..... when you are done flush the water/bleach mixture down your toilet ONLY if your toilet does NOT have any chemicals in it. your house will smell like bleach, but i think that is a nice clean smell. good luck!! you may use bleach water to clean your entire bathroom, i would not use it on the walls tho.

you could call a store that sells tiles, for better information, but if you use diluted bleach, make sure your windows are open. and what ever you do, do NOT use ammonia at the same time. the combined fumes could kill your lungs, or you.

Absolutely, but you won't need too much to clean and sanitize your floors, a few capfuls in a gallon bucket will do.
