From a guy's point of view,, we seem to associate that the mood,, moody behaviour on the part of women is directly related to the PMS, that time of the month. I understand that it can be very painful but is the grumpy mood directly associated to that particular time of month,, three to five days or do women get upset and in a bad mood because it is caused by pain or both? Ladies, give me some of your personal views on this. By the way, I actually feel bad that you suffer such days, month after month after month. Believe me, you my have my respect, not any pitty at all, so please don't take it wrong.

OK, there is definitely a change in hormones, which does and can cause moodiness. There are other things besides PMS and a woman's cycle that can trigger this as well, but being that you are asking about the cycle lets stick with that.

Due to the change in hormones, we do tend to be more testy. Little things that we would normally ignore or deal with better do tend to set us off. Not to mention a lot of women due have cramping either right before or during their cycle. This is not normally so bad, other than it's uncomfortable.

In addition to the cramping and irritability, you also have aunt flo to deal with. Bleeding from your cooch isn't a day at the park. It's uncomfortable and makes you feel dirty. I know my shower is my best friend when flo says hi. Then there's the bloating, your pants become a bit tighter and more uncomfortable because we tend to retain h2o during that time too.

Hope this gives you a little better in-site, nice to see that you actually have some sympathy for us woman, but no need to pity us. We make it through.

You shouldn't always associate moodiness with pms. There are plenty of other things that annoy women. Some women don't have any pms symptoms at all. Some ladies get it really bad. I'm a wreck for days. It's more like really emotional though. Not mean. I get my feelings hurt really easily right before my period.

It mostly has to do with the hormone imbalance. Have you heard the phrase "roid rage" that people who take illegally obtained steriods get? I also watched a show on discovery health about men having sex changes and taking high doses of estrogen to help them achieve the looks and feel of a woman...they all experienced mood swings and crying for no reason. If you think PMS is bad, just wait until your woman hits menopause!! That's 10 X's worse.

And thank you for understanding this is real.

It is all interrelated to HORMONES. The shift in hormones creates moodiness, crying, cravings, cramping, water retention, achy joints & muscles, headaches, and eventually the menstrual flow itself.

Most women recognize the symptoms as they happen and after a while learn to spot-treat them (Midol for cramping & headaches, chocolate for the cravings, etc). But all women react differently and what works for one person one month may not work for another person...or even for the same person another month.

Mainly it has to do with horomones, but some women may also be like that because of the pain.
