I wouldn't bother to change pounds into dollars for Mexico. If you do that you are going to pay to convert your money twice.
When you are in Mexico, you are going to get the best value if you spend pesos. Now you are not going to want to be walking around the UK with a bunch of left over pesos so I would recommend getting a few USD in cash for the airport and for the first day but after that just go to an ATM and use your bank card to withdraw local currency as you need it. Use your credit card to pay for excursions, shop and for hotel/wedding expenses.
It is true that the US dollar is widely accepted but again, if you are spending USD in Mexico merchants are not going to give you a good rate. If you want to spend US dollars you are going to pay about 10% more for everything.
Congratulations on your up coming wedding.

All warning indications are that sterling will proceed appreciating against different western currencies (study yahoo information in the present day) as a result you are able to perhaps lose out via waiting, till you're in it for the very long term. With any volume a style of hundred, you would be terrific to locate an inflation info fund to speculate in.
