I never understood why they called it the World Series either but now a days you have not only teams from the US but Canada as well. You are also seeing more and more players from Japan playing ball here so there is always a lot of press coverage from Japan. So more and more the game is being seen all over the world.

MLB took that name for itself more than a century ago, to sound impressive and emphasize that is the best...at that time about the only serious baseball.
MLB is still the best baseball in the world. That champ has outdone the best of the best, and deserves to be called the champions of the world.
By the way, many countries are represented in MLB, through their players who were good enough to make it.

It used to be okay since we were the without a doubt the best at the sport. There should be an actual world series now since that's no longer the case. I don't think we'd win all that often, our loss at the international baseball tourney a year or two ago made that pretty clear (I guess they were a little more serious about steroid use, that put our guys at a huge disadvantage....)

because thats what abner doubleday, the man who invented this great game, and the owners of the pittsburgh and boston teams came up with when they wanted to name the championship series of baseball. They felt that the game would catch on all over the world and they probably had some foriegners playing the game so they came up with world series

You have a point! I think it should be called the MLB Series or something. I don't know when the WS was started but maybe it was started when no other countries played baseball. So maybes thats why..

This is the premier league- the best players of the world are in the major leagues. Therefore it is the premier championship of the world as it relates to baseball

you have no point the best of the best are out there if your from china and your good youll get scouted if your from france and your good youll get scouted there are people from all over the world playing for these teams
