My son will be 11 months on 8/3, and yes he does. He twists & writhes around, wants to crawl, climb, kick, etc. We can get him to keep still about 50-75% of the time by giving him a toy to hold, or we have this lamp from Ikea called "Blimp" -- it looks like Saturn & it projects stars, moons, and planets on the ceiling & walls. It cost about $15. I give that a spin and he just stares at it contently through the diaper change.

Distraction works wonders. Here are some ideas:
1 - Be silly!
2 - Say "where is the kitty" or if you don't have one, pretend there is a spider on the ceiling. It really works, if your child knows about bugs already (all of my kids LOVE bugs).
3 - Give your child something to hold that is only available at diaper changing time like a special book or toy. I used to keep mardigras beads on my changing table.
4 - Let your child "help" by holding the clean diaper, or clean wipes.
5 - Talk about what you are doing, getting baby's bottome clean, in a pleasant voice.
6 - Stay calm.
Good luck!

In the olden days, a baby who squirmed got a pin stuck in their side! (OUCH)
Now I don't recommend you stick your baby with a diaper pin! But the MOST effective thing is to engage your baby with a toy that is very interesting, and they are ONLY allowed to play with while being changed. Distraction has got to be the number one tactic for squirmy babies during diaper changes!
Other than that, just leave em in their wet diaper. They'll get uncomfortable enough, they won't squirm, they'll actually HELP you by bringing you a diaper and the wipes!

this is thoroughly commonly used and the sole subject you're able to do is have some persistence! 11 months is far too early to commence attempting to potty prepare. maximum boys potty prepare plenty later than females and the familiar age for boys is around 3 and four. As for the indicators of whilst your son is waiting, he will commence showing interest interior the lavatory and could have the potential to permit you already know whilst he's approximately to circulate to the bathing room or whilst he has already long gone.

my 13 month old hates having her diaper changed. She does the whole turning side ways , crawling away method with me.What I have to do is pin her legs under mine , gently but enough so that she cant move. She hates it but it gets the job done and it doesnt hurt her at all.

Try changing her standing up (if diaper isn't too messy)--maybe she doesnt like feeling restricted. Like everyone else said, give her something to play with. Car keys work wonders!!

hehehe. yeah. well, he still fights (19 months). it's because they don't want to stop doing something interesting to do something boring like lay there while you change their diapers. i give my son something to play with while i do it. whatever will hold his attention, something to examine... the tube of diaper rash cream, his hairbrush, a diaper itself, a toy, a book... i switch up cuz he gets bored with those things too.

yes he does. i've tried a special toy, distraction, singing, the whole bit. usually i just try to do it as fast as i can. if it's just a pee diaper, i do it while he stands (or more like as he's crawling or walking away).

First of all, take a big deep breath. Then remember you're the adult. Distract her, sing to her, whatever it takes.
