I had the exact same problem recently. It was the soap I was using. There is a possibility she is allergic to soap with coconut acid in it which right now, the only soap that doesn't contain coconut acid is aveeno, Johnson & Johnson baby soap which is what I use, and some off brand soaps. Everything else on the market has coconut acid in them. I know because I checked each and every label searching for a pure soap. I even tried Ivory which is pure but to strong for my skin. I also agree with those saying to make sure she wipes properly often times little young ladies have trouble with this particular area. Please update us and let us know.

My daughter has had the itchy's ever since she was potty-trained. We've tried every kind of underwear and different soaps.
There are two things that have worked for her... #1.. bathing every other day.
#2. Have her use some vagisil creme.
#3. Have her use a good moisturizing soap (like Dove body wash or Caress Body Wash) and then also soak in the tub with Shea Butter infused bath bombs.

Have you checked the area...is there a rash...what do you see if anything? Have you used a new soap in bathing or laundry lately? Is there a discharge? Are the clothes she wears from the waist down too snug in the crotch? Call your pediatrician's ofc. or family dr. and speak with the nurse about this. Good luck.

It could come from wearing colorful underwear because of the dye or a certain kind of tissue. Make sure she cleans herself properly. It also could be and infection but nothing serious. This happened to me when I was young I couldn't wear colorful underwear.
Maybe try cotton uderwear because other stuff can irritate your skin down there.

It could be a yeast infection. Has she had some kind of illness that the doctor gave antibiotics for in the last month? Some doctor-prescribed medications can cause yeast infections. To be entirely sure, she should see her pediatrician, to make sure it's nothing serious. =]

My cousin who is also 5 had this problem. She wasn't cleaning herself properly. So you just need to help your daughter with that. If after a couple of days or so of you making sure she is cleaned properly, it continues then I'd take her to see her Doc. But don't freak out about right now. God Bless

She may have a yeast infection. This can happen from keeping damp clothes on. Please take her to a doctor so he/she can prescribe the correct amount of medication. Because she's five she won't be able to tell you other symptoms and she could be experiencing, she can also have a urinary tract infection. I hope she feels better.

now i'm not a doctor or anything like that but i have taken care of lots of kids and i work down in the emergency room. i would say it's probably just a UTI. Nothing real serious. just go to get her checked out and stuff.
