I hope you dont listen to the first person. no wonder hes only got 3% best answer. You can trust my judgement as i play the game warcraft. Warcraft is a real time strategy game created by the company blizard. The game was such a big hit, 1 and 2 aren't so big, but the 3rd is spectacular, that they made a whole new genre game out of it called "world of warcraft" not war of warcraft like the idiot in first said. world of warcraft is a mmorpg where you level up your character real time with other people. As to the real question...a warcraft is a made up word by Blizzard that means the art of war broken down would be my best guess.

W.O.W means world of warcraft Its a mmorpg, (Massive multiplayer Online role-playing game) where you can Create a character out of a bunch of races and classes then train and level him up. The other characters in the game are all real people (Massive MULTIPLAYER Online role-playing game).
although a few are NPC's (forget what that means, basically they're computer controlled.)
I don't have this game but millions of people all around the word play it so it sounds pretty good.
But Warcraft is where you control a army and create buildings to train men and differant building make differamt men such as knights and steam tanks, (it depends which one you're playing.)
I've only played warcraft 3 reign of chaos and the sequal, The Throne...something or other.

World of Warcraft. An online game that you have to pay a subscription to play as WELL as pay to get the game itself.
Guild Wars is just as much fun and there is NO subscription fee. The Game costs a bit more but you don't end up paying MORE for it through subscription fees.

Well W.o.W is World of Warcraft. which is an mmorpg(Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) You play as a character and see from its point of veiw.
But there is also Warcraft III which is a stradegy game where u have to build stuff, create an army and destroy opposing armys and their buildings.
