My God, I've never seen such a plethora of silly answers. Anyone actually seen Moon rocks? They're an off-whitish gray, almost a hint of yellow-cream. That's the reason for the color.

The moon is black, or dark grey.

it only looks white or yellow because of reflecting the suns rays threw our atmosphere. Depending on the amounts of gases in the atmosphere at the time changes the perception of the color. for example if the atmosphere has more argon or nitrogen than normal it will change the hue. Also gamma rays from solar flares affect the colors of our night skys.
