Is it another term for no strings attached with sex? This sounds dumb to ask but there's a debate about the right answer. Some have said its like having no commitment. Some have said its like come over when you feel like. Please help clarify some light of this issue. Do not answer with wisecracks or insults. This is serious.

As far as I know, yes.

The former is more accurate. From what I've heard, it basically means that two people do not have an emotional relationship past that between any pair of good friends, they just happen to include sex as well, as a non-emotional thing. The real question isn't so much what it means, but how possible it is and whether it's a useful term. While there is little doubt that many guys have no problem with it, scientific studies have shown that women may not be capable of entertaining the concept to the same extent.

Friends with benefits is, indeed, another term for no strings attached...Some even reduce it more to the simple 'booty calls' whenever the spirit moves the couple. The first I saw that was when it was in a Seinfield episode -- Jerry and Elaine were in between girlfriends and boyfriends and had made a plan that they would just have at it in bed since neither had a sexual partner at the moment. They made a pact that there would be no strings and that they didn't have to spend the night together; they could just "do it" to get the pent up sexual stuff out from time-to-time until one or the other found another significant other...It wouldn't be my choice -- the thought of it grosses me out...

Generally it means friends who have no-commitment sex. It does not mean come over when you feel like it unless that is what the two people worked out in this friendship.

It's usually two friends who occasionally have sex with one another. It's typically no commitment and you can usually call your buddy to see if they're available whenever you feel like.
People use the term for a variety of different situations. My friend with benefits, back in the day, was a friend who I had an amazing sexual connection with but couldn't find anything else in common with. I would usually call him when I wasn't involved with anyone else and, likewise, he would call me when he wasn't involved with anyone else. Whenever I was dating someone, I was monogamous with that person, but I always had my buddy in case the relationship didn't work out.

Basically when your friends with someone and are free to have sex or mess around with anyone you want and them without fearing a break up or anything. So it could include booty calls too, but it is having NO commitment

The first thing you said, sex without committment is right. You stay friends and have sex while knowing it isn't the ultimate relationship either of you wants. It's also a way of remaining with someone while auditioning replacements.

Friends with Benefits is when you can be friends and have sex or whatever..or whenever you want to...you can doo all kinds of things you know..so yeah its no strings attached and no commitment to the person that is your friend..

I have a friend with benefits. He is a real nice guy and we do go out and do things together as friends. When I want some he is where I go. I have no commitment to him I just enjoy his company while I can. He also understands that I do go out on dates but I don't sleep with them and I give he gives me the same consideration.
