Particulary if they hurt you, or gave you a hard time and or spoke about you badly/negatively.

If you use torture, you empower your enemy to torture your own soldiers.
You also become that which you are fighting against. In other words, the fight ceases to become us-good versus them-evil and becomes us versus them. In that scenario, there is no moral reason why the rest of the world can't side with the enemy, against us.
And has everyone forgotten the Geneva conventions ?
Has anyone forgotten the torture, perpetrated by the Nazis ? Is torture supposed to be morally acceptable.....if we do it ? If not, what was the point to both world wars ?

ONLY if they had information which could prevent the lives of my compatriots from being lost due to an impending attack of some sort. Using torture as revenge is not civilized.

I believe that if you use torture on your enemies you are opening the door and saying it is okay for them to use torture on you. Not a good precendent. This is bullying behavior. Why would we want to encourage this?!!

If they were a bad person, as in hurt others for a bad cause) but if they talked about me negatively I wouldn't because I could care less about what others perceive of me.

No, civilized people don't resort to torture. This is a good indication of the character of the politicians who are running our country.
When you stoop to the level of those you are supposed to be fighting, you become them.

I'd only torture someone if they harmed my family, friends or helpless people like children or the elderly.

Well, no, because when I do it never works and I just get twice the pain right back. Besides, it doesn't help. You might get in trouble.
