I just aswered a question about a zip code. I saw another one about an area code. A different one about the boiling point of some chemical compound. A different one asking was is the abbrivation for the state of Missouri. These are pretty easy questions. I have seen questions on here that people can go to google.com, ask.com, etc. and find out for themselves, in a matter of seconds, depending on how fast you type. Why do people ask questions like this? These are pretty simple questions for pretty simple answers. They don't require opinion, or research, or instructions, or complex responses. What is the point of this? Why do you think when people do this?

For an answer with more human contact than Google provides. Plus people are basically lazy and like being spoon fed which drives me insane.

Because they're too lazy to use a search engine like google.com, ask.com, etc. So they find it easier to just ask that question that has already been answered about 10 times, on here. Even though I don't know why they'd ask it if they could simply search that question in the "Search for questions" box at the top of the page, and then click on an answered question, read the "Best Answer" and get their solution.

I think becasue they want something more than just the basic facts. When ever I answer a simple question, I always throw in something else, like Missouri is also the show me state or zip codes were first used in 1963.

I often ask myself why I enjoy doing this i.e. answering inane questions when I have many other things to do. Firstly it requires very little effort, I get to see the good and the bad in people and lets face it, it is entertaining. So, yea, that is my answer..... addicted.

Of course there are little gems chucked in here and there and sometimes I roll around on the floor with laughter at the answers that are given. We have some good humour floating around at Y/a. Keep it up guys.

Because they're too lazy to look up the answers themselves.
