Why do americans do this? Here I have an example, victoria beckham. America didn't feel that Victoria Beckham looked happy enough with her serious expression in photos, so this was what she was pressured to do:

Lol calling me a dumbass, the irony. The point was that Victoria Beckham recently moved to America and america was pressuring her to smile more. Typical american ignorance.

Interesting question... I would say that Victoria Beckham simply a pretty unattractive woman, so to make sure she doesn't scare small children and elderly people, she tries to fake a smile ( it doesn't make her look healthier, smarter or nicer as a human being)... People still feel uncomfortable looking at her.
The point is: American people smile, because it is a personal choice. There is also something you should know: we couldn't care less what you don't like about our culture. For God sake you are still a monarchy in 2007. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Why do you think that America forced that woman to smile so much? Most Americans don't give a fat rat's backside about her.
Her handlers and managers obviously forced her to smile more, not America.
You're just grasping for faint, obscure excuses to justify your irrational hatred of the US and its citizens rather than asking or telling us anything substantial.

Yes. We smile. That's because we're different from you. If we didn't smile, we'd be the same as you. And I'd doubt you'd like that. We get chastised because we're the same as you (oh no, we're adopting American tendencies and their culture!!!) or because we're different (we smile when we aren't supposed to!!!). Make up your freaking mind. Not like we give a crap though.
