the reason for that is because during pregnancy you have much higher levels of progesterone, a hormone that relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation slows down your digestive processes, which can lead to gas, bloating, burping, and flatulence and generally create miserable sensations in your gut, especially after a big meal which s why during pregnancy they say instead of having full meal you should have smaller meals with more snacks in between!!.

Your problem is not trapped gas, but rather what is causing it!
Maybe you are lactose intolerant? If so, buy Lactaid and so forth. By now you must know what it is that you are eating that gives you gas, so avoid eating these foods. In the meantime, buy Beano.

Upper or lower?

Ultra-zyme helps rectal gas. It is available OTC in a health food store.

Other than that, walk, exercise, have a glass of water with meals, avoid gaseous foods -- cabbage, for example.

lie in a nice warm bath. while lying on your back start to gently massage your belly with your fingertips. move in a circular motion starting from your belly button. don't press too hard as it will just hurt but it can sometimes get things moving.

i know you probably wont have this at home but have you tried peppermint tea. you can buy it in tea bags at the supermarket . my daughter uses it as she suffers from irritable bowel syndrome and it is good for muscles cramps and wind in the bowels. it is very refreshing and is very good at helping your digestive transit.
