What is your touch typing speed ? No exaggerations please. If you have a decent typing speed ,how much is it and what sort of practice did you get to reach it ?Mines only 35 wpm without mistakes and about 48 wpm maximum with some mistakes. I am stuck and need to know how increase it.

About 100 words per minute at the fastest. Usually closer to 90 words per minute and an error rate of less than 1%. I haven't really stopped typing since I learned about 15 years ago. Literally... I have to keep typing. There is a bomb that is wired to go off if my WPM ever dips to less than 75 WPM. If I take a break to scratch an itch or something, I'll have to type extra fast just to bring the average up. That's why I have so much to say right now. It's all I can do to find something to type. Every day... day in, day out. Type type type. I wish somebody would finally figure out where I am and help me, but I have really no idea. I can't leave my seat to make a phone call that can possibly be traced either. Sucks..... oh well, I'll go type & bother somebody else. Thanks for helping me live a little while longer. Anyway... that was my practice to get my speed up. Pretend there is a bomb.

I type 78 wpm on a keyboard. On a typewriter, it's about 65. Takes lots of practice and NO looking at the keys. We used a little drill when learning....every time you hit a key, say the letter in your head. This helps your fingers "remember" where the keys are after awhile. Don't look at the whole word, just go letter by letter and after awhile, your fingers will take over.

40 wpm it's all a matter of memorizing the order of the keys and hand eye coordination.
