When I wash hand towels etc they turn really hard, is there a way to prevent this?

I put all the face cloths and bath towels in the washing machine and they come out rough and hard.

Do not use fabric softener in the washer or the dryer. Fabric softener breaks down the fibers and makes the towels flat and slick. Use vinegar. I found this helpful site:

try using liquid fabric softener and then use the dryer sheets and see if that helps . I think some of the fabric they use to make these towels is just really hard. good luck .

If you wash and rinse in cold water and do not use softener, they will leave the dryer as stiff as a board.

Use hot or warm water and add softener to the rinse every other wash. They do not recommend using softener on the same items every rinse as it interfers with the drying capability. In this case, be sure to use a warm rinse as opposed to cold.

You need to put them in the dryer with some fabric softener. Its in the detergent isle at your local store. Just wash them with whatever detergent you use, put them in the dryer, and then throw one or two sheets of fabric softener. :)welcomeMUCH.
