What type of "larger" cichlids. If your'e talking about Oscars, they need a much larger tank than a 30 gal. They grow to be 12-16 inches and require well ove 100 gal.

Larger is always better, so yes, a 30 is better than a 20, and a 20 is better than a 10. You didn't say what kind of cichlid they are, so it is hard to make a recommendation. If they are africans, provide plenty of rock structure and they should be fine in a 20. I would not add more though.

YOU HAVE TWO OSCARS IN A 10 GALLON!! GOOD GRIEF, DO YOU JUST RANDOMLY BUY ANIMALS WITHOUT A CLUE!!! Those fish get to be 15 inches long!!!! (including tail). You need AT LEAST a 75 gallon tank for boht o f them. NO way will a 20 gallon last them more than a month or two. They get sick and hole in the head disease fast, and you will need to do a ton of water changes. It is worth it to get the bigger tank, I love my oscars.

ultimately they will need a 100+ gallon tank to keep both healthy as adults. i don't know how big they are but a 30 may be fine for now, but they will need a much bigger tank and soon!

It really depends on what type of cichlids you have. Some will do very well in a 20, other need far more space.
