I'm no expert but one factor is trying to make sure you own a car that is not going to be stopped manufactured.

I was given a used Ford Aspire as a gift about 6 or so years ago and that car gets awesome gas mileage and is a perfect commuting car, runs perfect. I get check ups and oil changes regularly.

But the AC went out last year and when I went to get it recharged, mechanics told me that there were no more parts for it so I would have to go to a junk yard to try to find another Aspire to pull the part. If that's true for that part, what about other parts!!! I am planning to sell that sucker fast for that very reason.

Anything made by Toyota. As far as cars go the Camry is a great car, much better than a corolla. But for any vehicle nothing last longer than a Toyota Tacoma!

To be honest, most of them are. Some better than others. I like Ford products but they all will last you, provided you keep up the maintenance. That is the biggest factor in how long a car will last.

Volvo's hands down! They last forever and are very safe... In fact my dad was so partial to a Volvo he had that when it was time to upgrade, he had it gutted and sunk in the Gulf of Mexico to use as a reef to fish off of. The funny thing is it's still in good shape down there. Anyway I've never had any maintenance issues with mine and with kids they hold up well and are very durable.

Jeep makes a relay good SUV.
Hondas get realy good gas milage along with most any other compact car. Fords new truck uses fully boxed frames, which is stronger. I personal would go with a Jeep.

Any Toyota will be a good candidate for that!
Honda`s are also up there but are really expensive on insurance. You may also want to consider a Nissan!
