I was wondering if anybody likes the idea of naming children after place names, and if so which names would they choose?

Yes, I do like that idea. I think if I was to name a girl child after a place, it would be Paris (not b/c of Paris Hilton, lol), London, China, or India. For a boy, I'm not too sure. It would be easier to name a girl after a place than a boy.

I named my son Evian. Its unusual and suits him perfectly. He is now 3 years old and everyone loves the name the frst time they hear it. Everyone thinks of the water brand but the water is actually named after the place in France where the spring is. i prefer less obvious names like this if the name is a place too.

I don't really like it unless you have a strong connection to that place. I feel its a bit of a fad.

(Like "Brooklyn" Beckham named after where he was conceived, lol!)

I think its a much more popular trend in America than it is over here in the UK. I've heard of a lot of British place names being used as baby names in America (Kent, Sutton, Preston, London, Devon etc) and it sounds a bit funny - my other half is from Kent! Lol!

Savvanah and Delta are nice but I wouldn't use them myself.

I'm not sold on the idea, however, there are some current established names that are also places in Ireland, they are Tara, Kerry, Claire, and Shannon.
