they are killing dogs and cattle but should they ALL be killed

When a wild animal is causing a problem, why is "kill it!" the first (and sometimes the ONLY) thing some people think of?

Yes, wolves can and do kill other animals. Unfortunately, not all animals are cute and cuddly little herbivores. Many animals are carnivores, and predators. Should we kill every predatory carnivore on earth? Will this protect the prey species? Will this protect the cattle, and the cattlemen's profits? Will this protect the dogs that people do not keep leashed? Or will it just throw the balance of nature even further out of kilter?

Yes, wolves should be killed - if they are diseased, if they are attacking humans, if it is somehow in the best interest of the wolf pack (though I can't see how that could ever be). No, wolves should not be killed if it is in "retaliation." When a rancher finds cattle on his range that have been killed by a predator, killing the nearest wolf, or wiping out the local wolf pack, is not going to solve the problem.

So, to answer your question, no - ALL wolves should not be killed. What possible good would come of that?

Wolves don't go after dogs unless the dog is within a close distance to their den when the pups are helpless. And wolves that go after cattle are handled by the DNR with either live trap/relocation or removal. There's funding for this and hunters aren't allowed to shoot in the lower 48 states without a special license (wolves are still considered 'endangered').

Why on earth would all wolves be looked at as killable? The reintroduction programs are trying to balance nature back to what it was before we threw it out of whack, it's an expensive thing to try to do but it's being done because it's the right thing to do for this country. Your question doesn't make sense.

My sister has a dairy farm in the northern half of our state here, and there are 230 adult wolves up there. In 25 years of her being on the farm they only lost their cocker spaniel to wolves--he got too close to one of the dens and she understands that they reacted to protect the pups. Their dairy cattle are within wolf territory, as are her chickens and sheep and 9 horses. None of them have been attacked. There are black bear there too, which she sees occasionally, and coyotes, but they've lost no livestock to any of these three top predators.

The more we deforest and ruin the natural habitat, the more the wolves natural prey is dying off or being run out of the wilderness..so the only thing left is dogs, cats, sheep, cattle, and I'm sure the occasional child or defenseless person.Nature is a cruel beauty, this natural cycle has gone on longer than humans have screwed up the Eco system.......and will go on long after we've gone too.......

Absolutely not! People have been killing wolves for as long as they've been around. Yes, they kill livestock but they have to live on something. Wolves are very misunderstood creatures, and if people would just take the time to observe them they'd realize that wolves are very shy, family oriented, and gentle creatures. Just because they may be "scary" doesn't give anyone the right to murder them. If someone saw a man who scared them, could they justly shoot him? No! So why treat not just wolves, but all other living creatures differently? It just doesn't make sense.

On top of being gentle, wolves are also amazingly beautiful. If we killed all of them, think of the beauty that the Earth would be lacking and never able to regain..

Personally, I don't think they should be killed. We are moving into their space and cutting down their forests. They are looking for food and we are moving in on their territory. Kick the humans out and give the wolves back their land.

Add on:
I forgot to add something. Its very similar. A family went camping in the WOODS and a bear attacked them. Guess what the forest rangers did? They went back hours later, hunted the bear down and killed it. I have no sympathy for the people. How about this? We leave the wilderness to the bears and stupid people can stay out or get attacked. I can't beleive they killed a bear for acting like a wild animal. How ludacris.

No,
nothing should be kiled as then you are worse than the
wolf itself.
The wolf is only doing it as it is natural for it to do.
It doesn't know whats wrong.
