We would be shocked by many similarities...we could find out that we were thinking the same thing as people we barely even knew. We all have weird thoughts racing through our minds, and that's what will tell us that we all fit in...we're all equally as weird or whatever, but its whoever actually chooses to show their true thoughts that you wouldn't be suprised at if that DID happen. You could find out who was actually honest with you, but other people could find out all this stuff about you, too. That's why honesty is KEY in living. Like steven25t said, "only question will society accept them or not, since our society still full or labels, prejudges, and stereotypings". What he also said was that we are all different and that's what makes us, US, and we can't change that. We are all different, but we share the same feelings.

We would be shocked at how alike we all are,of course. The one common thread that runs through every persons life remains the same from person to person. This thread composes of all the ups and downs of a persons life, his burdens, his problems and dreams and aspirations.

I think we'd be shocked at how similar we all are, especially across cultures. This situation would allow for the removal of ignorance, and yet, I still think that stuff could get mixed up. People could still misinterpret thoughts and emotions, which wouldn't completely eliminate problems. I imagine people would become a lot better at controlling what and how they think to allow for privacy.

People say familiarity breeds contempt. I agree. If we knew each other's thoughts, we would lose respect for one another and we would be shocked by the realization that practically everybody has a dark side or soft side or some side that we don't want others to know about.

No, we would be shocked at how alike we all, how we all are just different expressions of the same essence.

we already are all ("all" including other species than human) collectively sharing all of our experiences, thoughts, memories, and wishes. this produces such things that have been called "synchronicity", "deja-vu", "coincidence".
all this is happening whether we are aware of it or not. contemporary societal design does not encourage empathy of the collective consciousness.
to answer the title question:
our similarities bring us together
our differences allow us to be fascinated with each other.
the shock comes when you realize how little you have been feeling that has always been there. it is like discovering a new sensory organ that you have always worn, but never used; a pair of ears that have never heard, a pair of hands that have never felt, nostrils that have ignored scent, buds that have never encountered flavour, eyes that have never had lids removed.

Both! I think we would be shocked by the likeness of our thoughts, but the difference of our thought process.

I think that we would be shocked at how differnet we are. We all know that everyone is different, but it is very close to impossible to really know by how much.
