Fonzie T is right about punk rock

Power pop is a musical genre that draws its inspiration from 1960s British and American pop and rock music.

The music is characterized by strong melodies, crisp vocal harmonies, economical arrangements and prominent guitar riffs. Instrumental solos are kept to a minimum, and blues elements are largely downplayed. Recordings tend to display production values that lean toward compression and a forceful drum beat.
The phrase "Power Pop" is believed to have been coined by Pete Townshend of The Who.

Punk rock is a street level, DIY music that stems from anger, frustration & rebellion. The music is raw, & unpolished & gutsy. It's about angst, not about where you can go to the mall to get the right clothes for it.

Also, TRUE punk rock is rarely on mainstream radio & NEVER on TRL. It's given out on self-made cds at local shows.

Power pop is basically pop music w/ a rocking edge. The Godfathers of that style are bands like Cheap Trick.
