Wisdom (aka Jnana in Hinduism) is knowledge of perennial nature... it is never lost with passage of time! The Wisdom gained by one continues from one manifestation to another until the end of cosmic journey. Practically Wisdom is gained from Scriptural texts. Knowledge of our soul within... the real essence of us living within our heart is Wisdom (jnana).

Knowledge is primarily gained from books and experience. As we proceed ahead in the journey of life... so does our knowledge increase! Knowledge primarily is meant for the ephemeral world... the real purpose meant to earn a livelihood! In the absence of knowledge... no human being can sustain for long in the present manifest world!

Whatever be our profession... knowledge gained in the journey of life helps us better our profession! Wisdom never helps one earn a livelihood. It helps human beings to understand the intricacies of the cosmic structure! The knowledge of our soul atman within... the definition of God... relationship between the body and the soul only becomes clear after gaining Wisdom from the Scriptural texts.

Our experience in life betters our knowledge! As we gain maturity... accordingly increases our knowledge! Rather increase in knowledge helps one gain maturity! Wisdom is never sought in the books of knowledge. It can only be gained by disseminating the pearls of Wisdom contained in the religious texts of various religions.

For gaining enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and salvation (moksha)... it is wisdom gaining which one reaches the level of Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed! The residual balance of Wisdom of the present manifestation at the time of death of the body becomes the opening balance of the next manifestation! It is through the doctrine of karma... the residual balance of Wisdom carries forward! More on wisdom jnana - http://www.godrealized.com/Jnana.html

A wise person can put the knowledge to proper use.
A knowledgeable person may use it for self-destructive purpose due to lack of wisdom.
Knowledge is processed information, and can remain in memory or just the book, computer etc.
Wisdom can only be carried within a person. A wise person knows where to get the knowledge when needed, and need not carry the burden all around !

wisdom -
Wisdom is often meant as the ability and desire to make choices that can gain approval in a long-term examination by many people. In this sense, to label a choice "wise" implies that the action or inaction was strategically correct when judged by widely-held values. However true wisdom cannot be measured in terms of popular consensus.

knowledge -
Knowledge is the awareness and understanding of facts, truths or information gained in the form of experience or learning (a posteriori), or through introspection (a priori). Knowledge is an appreciation of the possession of interconnected details which, in isolation, are of lesser value.

I would say that wisdom is the personal view a person has about a certain situation after learning about it,either by watching somebody else deal with it, or by dealing with it himself. Knowledge,on the other hand, is what sets the path for gaining wisdom...it is what gives us solutions for a given situation but doesn't exactly show us the methods to achieve them, thus allowing for error if done incorrectly. It would be like comparing the Art of War(Wisdom) to a military Strategy manual (Knowledge)
