Once files are written to a cd-r, they are there permanently.
You need a cd-rw to be able to erase them.

Are you talking about data files? I don't understand how you could write data files to a CD/R. My burners require me to use CD/RWs and they must first be formatted with the software that powers the burner. They can be erased or reformatted for reuse. However, with flashdrives now available and the cost coming way down, I no longer bother with CD/RWs for data backup. I have several flashdrives for different type files.

Yes boss! if you use "nero", you can delete the existing files and write new files. however that much amount of space will get reduced from your CD. You can use up to its maximum space. some buffer space is however used by the system.

yes you can if you have written your cd-r in multisession and you have space left on it. the file you delete will loss as well as space.
when you open cd-r in nero or like software you will see the previous files list just select and clik delete.
but you can't get the space for that deletion as you can get on harddisk

YOU CAN WRITE DATA ONLY ONCE ON CD-R. AND YOU DID NOT DELETE FILES AFTER BURNING PROCESS COMPLETE.
BUT IF YOU USE RE-WRITEABLE CDs THEN YOU CAN DELETE FILES FROM DISC AND ALSO YOU CAN FORMAT THE DISK. BUT THIS DISC IS SO COSTY THEN A CD-R.
