I am so upset at the way Christians have treated gay people. Like they've drawn the line in the sand and gone to war with gays. It's not right. Not every Christian thinks like that, and I don't. It is true that the Bible says that homosexuality is a sin, but so are so many things. a sin is a sin. one sin is like any other sin. They make it sound like homosexulaity is worse, and it's not. So you have men who lust after women all the time going around telling gay people that they are sinners. like one is worse than the other. I think they are very deceived. It's no reason to exclude gay people from your life either. They should be finding ways to include gay people into their life instead of finding ways to exclude them. I hate the way this has progressed. Like what good did it do to have to vote about gay marriage. like you;ll have gay and straight states and ten have a civil war? didn't we do that already? didn't anyone learn anything? it's so incredibly stupid(cont)

It isn't necessarily everyone's fault -because they just know what they are told in church, but they aren't being told the right thing in church. I don't think Jesus ever said to take the Bible and use it as a weapon against people. It never said to take the Bible - preach against gays and do all kinds of unspeakable things. It said to use Jesus's example - who would be eating and drinking with gays like anyone else. The problem this has become a political issue, and when something becomes political, people lose all kinds of sense and reason., (cont)

as far as I am concerned Dr. Dobson and the like don't have any right to get up there and say anything. why - because he hasn't spent any time with gays. He hasn't cultivated relationships with gay people like I have, and he doesn't know anything about what their world is like at all. He just knows that the Bible says this is a sin. Well, it's funny how they pick and choose what sins to talk about. There are Christians who look at porn, so is that supposed to be different? I guess I'm not ok with them being fake and phony. Every gay person that I have gotten to know well enough for them to share their past with me, each of them told me they were sexually abused. There could be other reasons, and I am aware of those things also, but where's te love and where is the compassion.
I think it's terrible te way Christians have treated gays and te lack of love. I'm sure gays don't think much of Christians either sometimes. but not every Christian is the same, and not everyone(con

not everyone is the same. not everyone hates. I am trying to promote love for one another. I am trying to express my love for others, and I am just wanting to help; bridge the gap.
God told us to love one another. I didn't think he said we could pick and choose who to love.
We are supposed to love wo God gives us to love. Everyone should love everyone right?
It just upsets me that this has appened, and keeps appening.
now my question - what will it take for Christians and gays to get along?
what can each of us do to make it better?
lots of love to all of you.

the reason it is political is that if you change the definition of what marriage is - that affects the future of your society and how children are raised, everything it is an issue that affects many generations to follow. like it or not.
There are many Scripture references. I don't need to go into that here.
please try to be kind in your answers, I have sought to be kind in my question.
some people migt not think I am kind, but I am seeking to be.

well what I am trying to say is that I am a Christian who is against the manner in which gay people have been treated
I think in part people are responding to the media and television and they feel that homosexuality is being shoved down their throat. I understand that, but that shouldn't affect how they treat others.
this question as to do with gay/Christian relations only and that's it.
I'm just going out and saying that I think the way things have been handled is terrible, and I think tey need to be compassionate. Love will help a lot.
that's all I'm trying to say.
I can't believe people would be upset with me for saying that. I promise you I am in the minority on this issue among Christians. It's almost like they have this mentality where they want to round up all the gays and liberals and shoot them all. There's tat much hatred. But that isn't what GOD is saying for them to do. I want help stop this before gays are round up and killed like the Jews were.

You seem sincere . First , learn what christians have done to gays and women in history . itll open your eyes. by the way most gays were not sexually abused as children , this is not so. Secondly , check out the huge financial scam being run by the likes of Dobson , and Tim Lahaye. I agree they hopscotch thru scripture to come up w their hateful brew of fanaticism . They want to march this country off the nearest cliff because they beleive they can force Jesuses return that way . Check out their own rants if you dont beleive me . anyway thanks for being an open minded person , many christians who visit here have mental problems.

Well you single out Christians as though they are the only people who are anti-homosexual. And yes it is a political problem now. The Majority of people don't want change, thats why it took 100 years before the governtment had to step in with the Affirmative action Act to allow African Americans and Women equal rights in the work place. It is why there was a civil rights movement and a womens rights movement, because most people are don't like anything different, and one place that has always been there to say what is different is a church. There will not be a civil war over this. But there will be a huge Gay Rights movement that will be taught in the history books of 8th graders. We just need to give it time, because when a Lage group of people finally stand up and say "we've had enough of this" the government always gives them what they want. Theres just not a loud enough voice yet. But there will be.

I agree with it being terrible the way gays are treated by Christians, the true message of God, at least the way that I understand it is love, not circumstantial love, just love, and you are right sin is sin, no matter what it is, and I don't understand why people think that one form of fornication is worse than the other, if we are all held to the standards of the church, then we are all sinners and sin daily, if we say we do not then we are lying, everyone should be embraced by love regardless of their personal beliefs, race, or sexual orientation

I believe homosexuality is a sin, but so is stealing, not honoring your parents, coveting your neighbors "stuff", etc....
In God's eyes, all sin is equal. The sin of homosexuality is equal in Gods eyes to the sin of stealing. Can you show me a church that has one person that has not sinned? They all accept each other, so why should the homosexual community be singled out?
This whole concept seems wholly hipocritical to me! As if Christians are innocent of any or all sin. I am a Christian too, just one who believes when the Bible says all sin is equal in Gods eyes!!

Be true to yourself. There is nothing you can do to force changes of people who continue to spread hate in the name of a loving Christian God. I have read no place in Jesus's words that homosexuality is a sin. I believe he told us this, " Love God before all things and love one another as you would yourself." If you don't love yourself, that might be a problem which is why our journey in life is to find who we are and to see the beauty and gifts we came into this world with.
Politically, we can make changes, but we must always remember that we are not in control of the world. That is for God who has given us free will. I often think of the bird analogy of love. If I let the bird go and it goes, it was not meant for me, but if the bird returns, it comes of its own choosing and true love can and will exist. That is how I see God. If we are confused because of our childhood and life experiences, then we must learn our true beauty given from our creator. Then we choose to seek God in return. Dr. Dobbs and all those who persecute homosexuals will have to answer to the creator. Wouldn't it be scary if our creator is the one who we created. In that case, I can see why Jesus would have said love God and love one another. I wish you peace. I have been where you are. It has been a journey to understand that there will always be those who do not understand, "Father forgive them for they do not understand." I still get caught up in the unfairness at times, but as I get older and hopefully wiser, I know that I can only be who I am and understand that these people of hate really do not understand what they are doing. They are doing it out of fear.

I don't believe homosexuality is a sin. People need to be more open-minded and tolerant of others. We're all humans, stop treating gays like dogs for god's sake.

aw, you're great! I'm not gay, but have a few gay friends and my favorite aunts are lesbians. It is hard sometimes, I remember in school we'd have debates over controversial issues, and then the gay marriage issue would come up, and people were so full of hate. It made me want to scream.
But then, one of my gay friends was a Christian. He was a Presbertyrian (sp?) and the people their were just great. So nice and accepting. Not everyone is like this, I know, but it just makes me happy to find people who are.

i think being gay is a sin.
having said that, the lord himself said hate not the sinner, but the sin.
i have several gay/lesbian friends, and i do not think any less of them for being that way.
you also bring up another good point about people who run around watching porn, jacking off, and sleeping with anything that moves- i think that is a greater sin than being gay.
at least my gay friends are in close relationships, and i never hear them talk about some of the filth that i hear other people speak about their sexual desires.
the lord died for our sins. we still have agency, and we will be held accountable based off of the knowledge we have and what we did with it.

God doesn't make mistakes and he made all of us, including gays so now they say the gays are wrong being attracted to the same sex. people cant help how they are born...its the way God made them. we should love & welcome everyone and their life style. I mean love is love and as long as your loving and not hating it dont really matter who the person is!

I am a Christian, and I could care less what 2 adults do.
Would you care to do a little research on how many Christian denominations have Gay Priests and Ministers?
Nah....You won't. You just needed to generalize your hate today, to make a rediculous point, where your facts are wrong.
Wonder into an Episcopal Church today, and then re-post your nonsense.
Then tell us how wrong you were.
Will you do that????
Nah...Didn't think so.....
