I would say from the exact time that we were born but most people probably don't know exactly when they were born so they just start at 12:00am. I start at 12:00am, even though I know that I was born at 5:44pm. I don't think there is a right or a wrong. It's a matter of preference.

Personally I count my birthday as at the time of the day I was born, however this is totally irrational as there have been so many leapyears and times when the clocks have moved forwards and backwards since I was born that you couldn't work it out exactly anyway. Still I can be irrational if I want to.

I start at 12am since it's the DAY of my birth and the day runs from 12am-12am. BUT, I don't say that I'm older until the exact time I was born (4:55pm).

For legal issues your birth date is one second after midnight of your birthdate...if you were born on Jan 1 1960...at 3 p.m. any legal documents consider you changing you age in years one second after midnight on Jan 1 on any given year.

Technically it would be the exact moment of your birth since prior to that minute you didn't truly cease to exist.
