if you mean the Canadian publisher who recently passed on, i would say he had a mission, and kept to it, to publish Canadian authors, and go for merit instead of money, he was more interested in ideas and quality then making a profit, plus while well known and noted, he realized his mistakes, and accepted his imperfections

Jack McClelland was a farseeing man who promoted Canadian authors whilst head of the McClelland and Stewart publishing company based in Toronto. A patriot to his native authors and wise beyond his years. He died at the age of 81.
