Better Amusment park: Marine World or Great America(San Francisco people)?

I think Great America is the better theme park if you are looking for adventure and thrilling rides (though Discovery Kingdom or Marine WOrld has its fair share of thrill rides). The good thing about Marine world is that it has many live animal attractions and other things that Great America does NOT offer.

Great America - has probably 3 times as many thrill rides and has large IMAX screens for kids to enjoy and to experience themed entertainment (Sponge Bob Square pants, etc.). For young teens and young adults, this place would be more fun that Marine world - in my opinion, as there are a plethora of teens and 20 somethings running about and have fun. The other great this about Great America is that it is IN a large city, so you can go shopping or to a nice dinner or movie within a 5-10min drive afterwards.

Marine World - Has Killer Whales, tigers, etc. that kids can see and learn about - plus they also educate on conservational issues and environmental awareness. One really good thing about Marine world is that it has recently been renovated, so many of the attractions and rides are newer looking and has a fresh layout.

I disagree with TECH. Marine works (which is now known as Six Flags) is has amazing variety with rides, animals and shows. Great America (in San Jose) is also awesome.

They are quite far apart, so I think the choice depends on where you are. I would go to whichever one is closer, arrive early and have fun.

I slightly prefer Six Flags because of the variety. You can go on rides, then watch a dolphin show. It's great. But, Great America is really good too if you love roller coasters.

It depends on what you're looking for.

Six Flags has better shows (mostly involving animals) and more family oriented attractions. Although there are some thrill rides, they're more tamed than the ones at Great America.

In contrast, Great America has excellent thrill rides and waterslides. However, it appeals more to teenagers (adults tend to find the rides too rough/wet, and younger children will be scared).

In my opinion, Six Flags is well-rounded. But Great America is great at what it does well.

if you are looking for a more family oriented park with activities for the kids under, say 10 years old, marine world is better. It has lots of fun animal things, more stuff geared towards kids.

great america is definately more adult or older kid oriented. It is mainly all about roller coasters and rides.

I prefer Great America if I had to pick. One of my all time favorite rides is there. Top Gun, feels like you are flying.
