Do you live your life dwelling on the past? Does it affect your life right now or your future? Why do you think you are stuck on the past?

I do not feel that I am "dwelling on the past", although I do occasionally recall past memories, whether they be good or bad.... So, my question is....

What is the difference between dwelling/living in the past and recalling past memories?

I think if you are dwelling/living in the past your present/future decisions are affected by that, but if you just recall a past memory, your just making a statement (no decisions are affected...)

No, people that are stuck on the past haven't made peace with it. Sad too.

Life is worth living in the "now".

I think mine is a little bit. I was sick all the time when I was younger, and my family still thinks that means I can't do anything. It also affects me socially and I have to stop being so shy around people. I've moved on mostly.

The past helps us understand why many things are the way they are now.

Having said that, I remember Bill Clinton's 1999 State of the Union address where he said, 'as long as our memories do not out-weigh our dreams, we will be forever young.'

Know the past, appreciate it, but don't live in it.

I'm stuck in the past, but that's due to historical reasons.

beacuse I'm a military kid, I had to leave all my best friends who I knew since 5 th grade and my gf who I was dating for 2 years and move to japan. I took it real hard but I just face the fact that I just have to move on with my life.
