This question is for people whos parents dont llet them read books in the harry potter seriese, or parents who do not let their kids read the books.
What are the reasons for not being able to read the books? Is your conflict with the book religeous? If not, what is it? Any more information on the matter of not being able to read harry potter books would be greatly apreciated.
[ For kids: Are you ok with not being able to read the books? If so why? Are there other books you are not allowed to read]
Thank you

Some people disallow reading Harry Potter books because they think it glamorizes witchcraft which is against their religious beliefs.

That's too bad. These books are getting kids to read and stir their imaginations. I grew up on Grimm's Fairy Tales and such. It doesn't take too long to find how the real world works when you go job hunting.

I think its sad that kids cant read the books cause I know my kids love to imagine things and know what is true and not true from me teaching them. I have all the books and have read them all and love them so much. I am 28 years old and love them allot and before the books I never picked up a book unless it was from back in school so its great that I have learned to love books through the Harry Potter books. I know my kids will read them when they can understand the words.

I encourage imagination in my house but all encourage my kids to understand right from wrong and truth from fiction.

well i used to not be able to read the harry potter books but that changed when i started an argument about it. i wasnt aloud to read them because they are pretty convincing books and they didnt want me to start believing i could do magic, or that they were really witches and wizards. it was sort of religous too. i wasnt ok with not being able to read them because everyone else was talking about how great they were and i LOVE to read. im aloud to read what i would like now.
