I'm only 19 but I have experience with children, I've worked at a day care and right now I work at a pre-school. It's not something I want to do right now because I have a really good job but if I wanted to do it in the future?

Your best bet is to work through an agency that has a good reputation. Get certified in CPR (adult and infant), as this will probably be required by agencies, if not required, it will at least make you more valuable to them. I would recommend interviewing with several agencies before deciding on one to work for - you should be interviewing THEM just as much as they are interviewing you.

You could work for yourself, too, but if things don't work out with the family, you won't really have any back-up work, whereas an agency would probably find you another job very quickly.

A lot of agencies like qualifications which are always useful, but I nannied for 8 years without them. I don't know what country you are from? I'm British and found my jobs myself, but agencies can be excellent. If you are in the U.K and don't want to go through agencies then buy "The Lady" that has tons of jobs in it. All the experience you are getting will stand you in good stead for the future, and I'm glad you are in a good job right now - not many people can say that.

If it's something you really want to do, go for it! Here is a good website to give you some info on becoming a nanny:
http://www.nanny.org/sywtban.htm
I also have a friend who posted her info on this site:
http://www.nannies4hire.com/
She has been working with a family for about 3 months now, and loves it. You can also check www.craigslist.com because there are always families on there looking for nannies. Good luck!

I think you would have to have a Qualification in ChildCare. In the UK we have to get a A-Level in Childcare Level 1. I don't know if you are from the UK or America. You could also go to a Nanny agency to look for jobs.
