Of the things that you strive for, or work towards, what is your motivator?

Fear that something will happen if you don't?
Fulfilling a desire that you have?
Guilt over not doing so?
Revenge or retaliation for a wrong doing?

guilt over having had wasted a good portion of my life with nothing to show for it

no revenge or retaliation.

Motivation? Who needs motivation when there is a hot pocket, a beer, and 270 channels on TV. LOL

Okay after Saturday it is the will to do what is right. An overdeveloped sense of responsibility to my children, and the wanting desire to look in the mirror and have thoughts of how awsome it is to be me and the cool stuff I have done.

My motivation is the pursuit of something better.

I want to be an actress, maybe get married and have a family, die a peaceful death. I want to be fulfilled. I want to help as many people as I can. And the pursuit of somethign better keeps me going.

Knowing that however hard I try, there will always be something higher than where I am now. That's what keeps me going...to not only fill my dreams, but to surpass them.

Onc of MY "major motivators," is...

Not "fear..."

Just "loathing..."

Long ago, I realized with a startling moment of clarity (God, I hate those!) that...

Without a "steady paycheck" (hourly or salary or inheritence or large dividends or whatever...) a human male inevitably ends up either terrbily lonely, homeless, incarcerated, or dead...(or a politician...which is much worse...)

(And I have a natural "loathing" for all 5 of those fates...but no "fear"...I only exercise THAT emotion in presence of human females...)

And so I diligently get up in the morning and sing... "Hi, Ho! Hi, Ho! It's off to work I go," continuously heeding that "striveful motivation" that's pushing me forward...

...and forever keeps me movin'...and drivin'...drivin' on down that "steady paycheck" umpaved road...(can I get a beat of knee-tapping or snapping fingers right now so I can hum or whistle an old "Blues" tune...?!?...give it up, people...let me feel your "motivation" pain...!!!)

Believing that my next life step has to be better than this one. I don't have a good outlook on the direction in which this world is going, and am as positive about is as I can be. Just making it to the next day is motivation enough for me...

I think that each thing has its own different motivation.
I work, to take care of my family.
I write, because I must.
I go to school, in order to get a better job.
I love, to restore myself.
And sometimes the same thing can have different motivations at different times, like eating.
Sometimes I eat to relieve the pain of not eating, sometimes for enjoyment, sometimes for health, and other times for punishment.
I think I have used all of the reasons you have listed at one time or another for one thing or another.

i think i can say now, really self improvement is my biggest motivation, doing better at something then i did last year, feeling happiness that i am trying, and thankfull that i have a chance to continue to grow and learn and develop
though, there are times, when i need to do something, and if i cant find the energy or motivation from my self to do it, i do still rely on all the things you mention, to inspire me

My motivation is the fulfillment I receive from doing that which I was called to do.

For many years I have had posession of an "Ace" pocket comb that holds the key to life and death. If I died it would fall into the wrong hands. Not gonna let that happen.
