Yes, validity does have to do with the truth.

There's a statement using a form of it that I like a lot, to the effect that:
We all need to be able to validate our own feelings and beliefs. That is, to know the truth of our feelings/beliefs without having someone else validate it for us.

In psychology, validity is: A quality of a measurement indicating the degree to which the measure reflects the underlying construct, that is, whether it measures what it purports to measure.

Yes, it does pertain partially to truth, but in order for something to be valid, it has to be proven. So if you want to win an argument, you must be able to prove your point.
