my all time favorite band is mushroomhead. they were the first metal band I heard, and they are from Cleveland:)
but my favorite band at teh moment is Insomnium. they have some of the most awesome and challenging riffs i have ever heard, and the bass player and drummer are also very good. I have heard that they play there music perfect live. I guess i will have to wait and find out this fall when they come to the states for the first time.

Tool. Maynard can go from thrashing screams to a beautiful melodic sound in about a second flat. His voice is amazing.
I also like System of A Down--unique vocals and songs with actual meaning.
Static-X is a lot of fun, as is White Zombie/Rob Zombie, and Skindred.
Dethklok (From Adult Swim's Metalacalypse) are friggin hillarious and REeeeeaaallly good :)
I'm very picky with my metal, though. If it is nothing but the stereotypical screaming with the same stupid chord in the background and wailing drums, I don't usually like it. Even metal should have some melody in my opinion. If i can't understand the singer at ALL, I'm not usually into it.
