Assuming you have enough wires running to the ceiling fan and light from the switch box, you can certainly use the double rocker switch to control them.

Okay Now make sure you have a switch that is capable of handling the load of both the fan and the light. And consider the wattage of bulbs you will be using. ADD this all up and it should not exceed the total rating on the switch. Th switch is rated in AMPS more than likely. If it says for instance, 15AMPS then this will be enough for 15 A X110V (I [is Amps] times E[Eis volts]= Watts, so if you have3 60 watt lightbulbs and the fan takes 150 watts then you are looking at 180 +150= 330 watts, even if the fan was higher wattage, you have all the way up to 1,650 watts until you reach the switches rating. Now as far as hooking up the wires, it's difficult to draw so look up any "how to + wiring", it will be a switch with 6 contacts on the bottom and have 2 separate rocker switches on the top. I would assume the fan and light both have pull strings to turn each off and on? Then you just need a single throw wall switch (15 amps). Don't use fluorescents with a dimmer switch though, it will severely shorten the life of the bulbs.

This is a pretty good place to get information. However, you need to ask a question to get an answer.

What information do you want?
