Ok well, it happens whenever i am on the internet. I will be looking at something, then go to another page. The status bar will load one bar fully then not go any further. After about a minute or two my computer will completely lock up. Number lock works (on/off) but caps lock or scroll lock lights dont come on. Its worse when downloading something, like limewire. If i download a song, my download speeds will slowly drop and then just dissapear and then computer will lock up. All drivers are installed and have run AVG and had no viruses!!!! It is getting ectremely annoying.

I guess you have a starter version of an operating system .. A starter pack is limited to 3 simultaneous applications. Try to check if it is not a starter pack. If not, the lock up may be cause by a software included in the board which is currently installed in your computer. This is a software commonly included in MSI mboards.

Additionally, launch Task Manager and keep an eye on what is using up your resources. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and click on the Processes tab. Identify a process where the figures are changing rapidly under the CPU and Mem Usage columns and then do a Google search on that process e.g. iexplore.exe.

DO you run a cleaner like ccleaner to clean up your files? Its free at ccleaner.com and spyware? If you are running a wireless connection try hard wiring it and see what happens, if it suddenly works then either the router, or your card is going.. Lastely what kind of internet connection do you have and how many computers are on it?

Sounds like spyware, possibly a trojan horse or the such. Go to www.lavasoft.com and download the free ad-aware program. Also look up spywareblaster and spybot. They're all free to use to remove the stuff, not just a scan to tell you it's there then asking you to cough up the dough.

I had the same 'fault'.
Try the following...
Press 'start' - control panel - Add or remove progs - add or remove windows components - select 'networking services' - press 'details' - remove 'tick' from 'Internet Gateway Device etc - then reboot PC.
It worked for me.You might want to print this out first!
