Yes and no... BC can be interpereted as Before Comedy, but more specifically, BC is interpereted as Before Colbert. The age before the Colbert Report was a dark and scary time. We can now begin recording time as AS, After Stephen.

Actually, although BC and AD sound like they should be Before Christ and After Death, their real meanings are actually Latin words. It might mean the same in English and coincidentally have the same initials, though.

There's a new dating system now that changed BC to BCE for Before Common Era.

Whoever told you it was Before Comedy may have had a point, though. ;)

BC does mean before Christ but AD does not stand for after death but Anno Domini which is latin for year of our Lord. Serious archaeology now uses BP before present to avoid having to add 2000 to figures..

B.C. = Before Christ, and A.D. does NOT mean "After Death" as so many people are saying on this. A.D. = Anno Domini or "Year of our Lord"

It should! I use CE(Common Era) and BCE(Before the Common Era) to avoid religions in which I do not believe. I live at Chinatown and use the Chinese calendar. This is Year 4705 on it.
