I just got this new compuer about a month or two ago and the DVD burner doesn't seem to be working though. I have previously burned two DVD's, so it was working fine before, but now whenever I try to burn something, right when it's at 99%, it comes up saying "Error" and a message about it not be able to complete. It suggested changing the speed, which I did to the slowest, but it did the same thing when I tried burning again. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Also, I don't know if I have two separate programs, but there is Windows DVD Burner and NTI-CD & DVD Maker 7. I've been trying to burn with Windows since whenever I drag a movie into NTI, it comes up saying it's not a file the program supports.

Help!!

It could be incompatable blank media. Does the drive support both ?r and -R media ? Which are you using ?

If using -R, I'd suggest trying +R

If this still fails to burn, check for a software issue, try the download of Nero www.nero.com see if it can manage it. If not contact PC supplier, and repost a faulty DVD Burner

I had to replace 1 of my burners 2 months ago for a similar issue, but mine all failed at about 25%, so I suspect the head movement mechanism was jamming

The very first thing you should check is the regional code of the DVD burner. It should be checked in the region where you live. Secondly, try using different media, like higher quality disks, +R or -R . Third, if you are still not able to burn, perhaps your burner may need a firmware update. You should be able to get the instuctions on how to do a firmware update from the manufactures website.
Windows supports copying files onto DVDs and not movies. For that, you should use a third party program. like Nero Easy CD creator. Hope that helps!
