I have relatively minor scars (not deep but some superficial craters) from acne. The only reason I would get it done is because I can, and it does appears pretty safe. However, other than that it's really not something that bothers me too much--plus, it's really what's inside that matters not substance. Btw I'm 17. You know cause I want people to love me for me and not what they see on the outside(I'm pretty apparently according to people).

it is ok, there is nothing at all wrong with taking care of your outside appearance, and developing/working on that, just as you do whats inside,,
to be a well rounded individual, i feel you must both work on and accept yourself, all of you, that includes the physical, mental and spiritual
dont get obsessive about any one part, but dont ignore any one part
find your own way, what fits for you, what you like, in all areas,

I used Retin A to reduce some of the scaring
but I'm a guy so I don't no if it will help as much as you want it to.
