But block certain people, myself included for responding? Can he not understand, that the reason most of us feel such hostility towards them is simply for the fact that they neglected their children! Now, I'm not being rude, using offensive terms, insulting anyone etc, etc, I am just stating what is a fact. Little children NEED protecting.
I am a mother of an 11 year old lad, and anything to do with children going missing really hits home with me, thats why i feel so passionately about what I believe to be a wrong doing towards Madeleine, Amelie and Sean.

Yes but Chuckler, it wasn't a "mistake" it was premeditated, and the reason for any hostility I may feel, is because they (parents) refuse to accept what they did had an almighty impact on what happened that evening.

GillsMan. My son is starting secondary school in September, so obviously now he is allowed a bit more freedom, i.e. he can play outside, just as long as he is with friends and has his mobile phone, or he can go on the bus to my Mum's, I see him onto the bus, tell the driver where he has to get off, and my Mum meets him at the other end, all these things just give him a tad more independence. I would never leave him at home, or in a villa so i could go drinking! My parents would never have left me alone either, so perhaps I inherited my parenting skills from my own parents. After all,my father was a Detective Constable, and had first hand experience that what can happen when children are neglected.

Honestly the "they made a mistake" line is getting boring now!!!!
It was NOT a one off mistake to leave their three toddlers alone, it was a DECISION they made every night for a week! and then to actually refuse to admit they did wrong and come up with sh*t excuses like "it was like eating in our garden" really really gets to me!
it is a real shame that so many people are supporting gerry and kate when actually they should be supporting Maddie, she can't stand up for herself and the people who are standing up for her parents should really think about why they would go out of their way to stand by them and not go out of their way to get justice for little maddie!
i will not stick up for gerry and kate because i don't agree with what they did, i will however stick up for maddie who was badly let down by her parents, parents who were supposed to be there to protect her and her siblings - if her own parents wont admit they let her down and if the media will stand by her parents and so many people on yahoo Q&A will stand by them then it looks like poor maddie has no hope of getting justice, the poor little mite needs more people like me and you on her side to stand up for her and not stand up for her selfish parents!
GillsMan: maybe you should get the hint your mother was trying to get rid of you - and back in the day when you was five parents did not realise the dangers of leaving children alone - we all know now and have done for a while the types of people in this world and i find it bizarre you find it so hard to believe everyone doesn't just go out and leave their kids alone!
and GOOD GRIEF, so you think that if Gerry and Kate had never left their three-year-old and twin two-year-olds alone that would mean they were smothering them? what planet are you on? they were TODDLERS, they weren't 8, 9, 10 or even 7 they were BABIES for f**k sake, how can you think that by protecting your children from paedofiles and abductors is smothering them, maddie wasn't even at INFANT school yet - i hope to dear god you dont ever have kids, even the pro-mccanns have been able to admit they did wrong but you sir are something else.....

I don't know this guy in question are you stating that he feels sympathy for the McCanns? so blocks anyone's opinion that's anti them.
I've read and heard so many arguments about this case and most of its been vitriolic. I'm not for them nor am i against them, but aren't people being somewhat hypocritical in all of this. Why do you think what they did was premeditated, have the Portuguese or British police said so and charged them with wilful neglect. If not then in the eyes of the law they are innocent. What they did was an error of judgement, they obviously thought their children would be safe, they were wrong. But they are being pilloried and villified for doing something that thousands and thousands of people do every day in this country and often much much worse. You may not neglect or abuse your child, and you obviously feel very strongly about it, and so do I, but at the end of the day she was abducted by an unknown assailant, and that must be very hard to bear, knowing that they may never get her back

It is wrong for any user on here to try and stiffle someone's opinion. Everyone has the right to speak whether you agree with their questions, opinions etc. The reason the public are so against the McCanns is whatever you say they did wrong leaving the children. Rather than admit they were wrong, and I suspect if they did from day one no one would be hostile towards them, they have acted smug telling us they were in the right and everyone else is too blame. They have jetted around the world spouting off to every other country that they need to get their houses in order and in the UK we all leave our children. They then set up not a charity but a private company and employed all their family and haven't spent any of the money on actually anything constructive to find the girl. We have all been treated to daily blogs of Jerry and Katie jogging marathons and celebrity navel gazing. Children do need protecting and I fear for the twins who by their own admissions are dropped at a creche from the same resort Maddie went missing from from 9am till 7pm. Thats why the public are going mad and won't accept the nonsense the McCanns spout forth daily. Perfect Beast stop being so naughty!

At least we don't have to put up with constant coverage of the McCanns any more, even the media have tired of them.
They did wrong, and the only reason so much fuss ensued was becuase they could afford to stay at the crime scene and keep the spin going.
I'm pretty sure that if they couldn't afford to stay put the hype and spin would've died away much faster.
I just hope that El Popey in Rome gave them a suitable dressing down, not that I beliwve in any of that religion rubbish..

Totally agree with you but haven't had any probs with this user.
It's not so much hostility as the unbelievable fact that 2 (supposedly) highly educated people would do this.
Chuckler- a mistake is forgetting to lock your car door when you go shopping not leaving 3 children under the age of 4 alone in an unlocked apartment in a foreign country with no one to care for them while you go out to have dinner.

Maybe he's one of the McCann clan? I wouldn't blame them if they tried to counter criticism by infiltrating message boards. This is very common in U.S. politics (paid posters), especially in the run-up to elections. Special interest groups also hire people to put their agendae across on various message boards.
Even if Perfect Beast is a paid poster, no big deal. If the US Republican and Democrat parties and groups like AIPAC and the BNP use internet message boards as a way of disseminating information or arguments in their favour, why not the McCanns?

To be honest I don't think we will ever get this user to understand our point of view. He is entitled to his opinions as well as we are but he could debate his point rather then just be insulting.
Like you I am a mother of a 11 year old daughter and can hand on my heart, say I have never left her home alone. I know children who have been neglected ,sexually abused and emotionally abused and it's heart rendering.
Of course, I am not saying the McCann's did these things but I do believe they neglected their children by leaving them alone. Her parents will live with this for the rest of their life's but they still must be held accountable for leaving their children alone in the first place.

The Madeleine thing is over, kapeesh?
Anyway, Missy, who are u 2 pass ANY comment on how other people parent their children?
I think YOU r a bad parent for being overprotective with your kids thus stifling them and not allowing them to develop.
Now how does it feel to be judged?!
