I understand he is considered a jerk, but I dont care.
Everyone will also bring up the steroid scandal, which he was never tested positive for. But people still deny his greatness on an athletic level (not personal or social).
Others say he would not have reached this level without the use of steroids, but answer me this... Now that they supposedly have better steroid testing and test more frequently, how come he still hits around 40 home runs each year when healthy after the BALCO scandal in 2002?
Is it still luck? Or is it because he's black?
Is it also because Hank Aaron was black that he didn't get such a celebration when he surpassed Babe Ruth? Is baseball just racist?

How do Barry Bonds and Michael Vick compare other than they are black athletes?
Why are you comparing a criminal to an innocent man?

It would make sense if he slumped after they supposedly got better at testing steroids. But he came back and hit 45 HRs, the same as the year before.
It had nothing to do with that. He's a GREAT athlete, but not a great person. Give him his respect on an athletic level.

Are you nuts? The man used steroids!!! He testified to a grand freaking jury that he "unknowingly" (total b.s.) used steroids. The man cheated for crying out loud! There was no steroid testing before 2003, so yeah, he hasn't tested positive, only because he would have back in 2001, 2000, or 1999! He detoxed in 2005 (out with a knee injury, also b.s.) from the steroids.
His being black doesn't overshadow the fact that he is a total *ss. After all, this has more to do with the fact that he cheated than him being black.
Aaron was railroaded like no other when he chased Babe Ruth's marks. Aaron is a man of great class and dignity, yet narrowminded assholes sent him hate mail threatening his life and family. That was just sad that some fellow members of my race couldn't embrace the man Hank Aaron was and how he was pursuing the Babe (who as it turns out, was part black himself) honestly.

It is a combination of all those things. People seem to forget that before the whole steroid issue Barry was a offensive and defensive power. If you take away the disputed years when he supposedly took steroids, he would still qualify for the Hall of Fame. Of course race has something to do with it; it always will have a role in everything, whether slight or not. Hank Aaron broke the home run record in a time when there was considerably more racial tension at the surface. Now there is a bit less racial tension, but it is bubbling beneath everything. I don't think the MLB is racist as a whole, but the history of the organization has been tainted with racism throughout its history, so there is a basis for that.

They have never met him, only know what the media portrays him as and think he took those drugs illegally. If a dr. prescribes drugs for you, if MLB did not make HGH or steroids illegal or if everyone else took them "legally", why are they getting verbally shot at?
We'll never know the answer to that.
I just think it's skill because continual steroid usage will take away the sharpness of your vision, will make you crazy enough not to be able to keep a job or play baseball every day and will tighten your muscles up to tight that you can't pitch or swing a bat.

It is because he is a cheater. He gained muscle mass while on steroids. thats it. doesn't matter if he tests negative now, the cheating is already there. Think of it this way, he played for like 20 years, and at least 10 he was a cheater. So it doesn't matter he isn't cheating now, but he was cheating.
Baseball is not racist, look at Mark McGwire, Raphael Palmero, Jose Canseco All different races, all basically hated for cheating.

No its not racist! Please dont be a gary Sheffield!
Its because he is not the media golden boy we all think he is supposed to be! Michael Jordan....Did he not win our hearts with his charm as well as his B ball prowess? Its all in the charm! I agree with you on the point you made about Bonds still hitting HRs without Roids. I like him and Im going to embrace his record breaking feat! Its baseball HISTORY for Gods sake! ENJOY! I feel sorry for some folks, I really do!

It's just very tiring, all of the discussion - did he use steroids? Did he not use steroids? Should his home run record stand? Should it not stand?
I mean, by now they should just be able to decide: yes or no. And be done with it.

If a horse is doped and wins a race, that horse is disqualified. If it is later shown Bonds did indeed took steroids for years, then he should be called a cheater and discredited.

I'm sorry, but did you just call Barry Bonds innocent? He uses illegal steriods to cheat in baseball.
Baseball isnt racist, they just dont want to celebrate a cheater breaking records. Get a clue.
