I have tickets to this afternoon's game Braves-D-Backs game and I'm wondering if my eight-month old is too young to attend. What are your thoughts?

I think a Braves-D'Backs game will be pretty low key, but anything could happen. It depends on your seats and the type of people you end up sitting near. At least here in the Bronx it seems like the lower you sit (higher priced tickets), the more mature the fans are. Trust me I would never take an infant to a Yankees/Red Sox game and sit in the Tier Reserved seats... However I have seen families have a great time at a ball game with their babies. Make sure you bring everything you need and that it all fits in one relatively small sized bag and that it isn't going to be too hot out.

I took both of my two to major league games at younger than that, and I've seen plenty of others.

But YOU know your child best. Some, like mine, found the sensory input -- crowds, noise, smells, speech, colors, motion, and that funny thing those guys in white and gray are doing on that big lawn down below -- wonderful and delightful; and of course having Mommy and/or Daddy there gives them a sense of automatic security. Others might not enjoy it and will want you to take them somewhere quieter for a while -- an obscure corner of the concourse usually works. Or the little one might zip right into power nap mode and be no bother whatsoever.

Bring all the usual prep materials -- diapers, change of clothes, blanket, bottles, snacks (at that age, Cheerios, probably), sunscreen, a couple of toys -- and be prepared to not get to watch much of the game yourself if necessary.

Some people get overworried about potential illness exposure, which I won't say is wrong, but not very likely. Again, it is your call, you know your child best; but many babies either love it or just nap through it. And, worth noting, babies get in free, which is something they'll probably never get to experience again.

If your baby can handle being outside the home for 5 hours, AND you think you can handle him/her for that time, then I don't see a problem. I'd guess finding a place to change the poor kids diaper would be a challenge, especially when you have to navigate around the thousands of fans who'll be using the restroom right at the end of the game. Personally I waited until my nephew was around 3 to take him as I thought he would then be old enough to enjoy the game.

It depends on your eight month old. Does he/she cry a lot? Will you have to get up often to attend to his/her needs? Will his/her crying upset other people around you? I personally wouldn't, because bringing your child may distract you from the purpose of going to the game - watching it. You also have to take into consideration the other people around you and how the presence of your baby may affect their experience at the game.

If you're having to ask, noooo! Think about all the freaking insects that will be floating in the outdoors. Think about all the hardcore fans, how mad they'll be if their team losses, there's no telling what kind of rage will evolved! Then again, it may be a friendly environment!

If the child can sit still and be happy fine. Just watch out for fly balls for them and for yourself.
