Does anyone have any experience with say Moto Man's way of breaking in a motorcycle vs. the way it says in the manual. My dealer also told me to follow the advice in the manual, whos right and whos wrong because these two ways of doing it are VERY different.

What ever you do don't listen to that Harley guy he has no idea what the hell hes talking about. A lot of very skilled racing mechanic say that the best way to break in a new bike is to open the throttle in all the gears and let the engine slow the bike down after you floor it. Do not redline the bike but give it some gas floor it to about 9000 rpm and then let then engine slow the bike down. See what is really being said when yo u say break in a bike is that you wanna seal the new piston rings around the cylinder heads the only way to get a good seal is to get the nice and hot and have them form around the heads. The way you do this is by not babying the bike by opening it up (but don't redline) and really giving the motor a good chance to get a correct seal. Another thing is never ride you bike cold. Let it get to operating temp before you ride about 175 degrees. Also don't start the bike unless you intend to ride it . Don't start it just to hear the exhaust.
O and by the way Mr. know it all Harley man says that no matter what the tire pressure is Metzler tires don't cup. Lmao

I use MotoMan's break in procedure after rebuilding the top end of bikes.
As for brand new bikes right out of the crate, I'd have to say follow the owners manual.
Every moving part of the engine has to be worn in to their correct tolerances, for lubrication purposes and long life.
Crank bearings, camshafts don't have bearings on some bikes, transmission gears, oil pumps, water pumps.
Even external parts - wheel bearings, steering head bearings, swingarm bearings.

the biggest thing is to apply the throttle smoothly don't whack it open or closed follow the manual they have broken in more motors than whoever you're talking about

hi, motoman is not going to replace your engine if you ruin it, break it in by the manual.
