that's what I was wondering. I live in South London and my parents are all like 'no you can't go out here by yourself, you can't go there'..blah blah because they think I am randomly going to get stabbed. I told them that's only really people who are involved somehow in gangs or have done something to aggravate the other person. They wouldn't target me at random. The person you are talking about probably was involved somehow in a gang.

The press always does this to make the family feel better. The gang culture in South London (and to an extent Manchester) is so insidious that sometimes it is easier to ignore the fact that an awful lot of children from both sides of the tracks are wrapped up in it somehow. The wearing of an innocent "piglet" (from Winnie the Pooh) shoulder satchel can be a sign that one is a member of gang is parts of South London so be aware.

Maybe they are telling the truth.
Some years ago a criminal was murdered and to read the tributes in the press and elsewhere you would think he was the nicest guy ever to have been involved in prostitution, drugs and protection that ever lived. So I see where you are coming from.
It's called do not speak ill of the dead
Have you noticed the gangsters always have the best funerals

Blacksslayingblacks; you sick Neanderthal throwback!!
Yahoo, how can you allow this moron on your site!
I think he and others like him deserve every little bit of sh*t that come their way!
Now, the question: i think it's a good thing to report that not everyone living in certain gang areas has to pick up the gauntlet!
Edit; Since writing this the above throwback seems to have been removed! Pity Yahoo don't operate a 'name & shame' policy!
PS, NO he's still here!!! Why do answers get hidden when you give them thumbs down???

Why, is it so hard for you to believe that he was a good boy. People like you make me sick. Did you know him, if not what made you decide that he wasn't hard working or to think that he was in a gang.

If your talking about the black school boy, who was shot dead by a gang on bikes.
He was not in any gang, he was a very good student, and had just won a place at college to study science.
I read what his mother said about him, and I believe that heart broken mother, her son was in no gang.

Because he wasn't?... not all teens are gang members, and many do study... if, however, that wasn't the case they should have said nothing

Because it's seen as unusual for a black teen to be hard working and a good student. I also think it's a way of clearing the victim's name because. People who didn't know him might assume he was just another gangbanger killed by a gangbanger.

All it takes is one person with a unstable mind and incapability to control their emotions to get pissed off at you for whatever stupid reason.
