They were animated plasticine models in the programme Take heart with Tony Heart presenting, it was back in the 70s and 80s.

Oh, I loved Morph!!! I remember the white one was called Chas, and there was a big blue one called Gillespie.......there were also little plasticine ball shaped characters with googlie eyes who used to go about in a group and they squeaked!!!!

Why do I feel old all of a sudden?....... :)

Morph made his first appearance in "Take Hart". Peter Lord and David Sproxton - then a little-known Bristol company - invented Morph, and later Morph's pale friend Chas (pronounced "Chaz") arrived to keep Morph company

Chas! There were other characters, Delilah, who had fuzzy hair and glasses and was bossy. I remember a character made from tin foil, but not her name.
